I have been to Shin Shin restaurant a few times over the years and enjoy the food and also because it is located on a small out of the way street in a quiet neighborhood. The staff are pleasant and although it is an old restaurant with dated furniture and decorations it appears to be kept clean. If you like a cross between old style Chinese food dishes and modern dishes for tbe most part old style then you won't be disappointed.... For those who appreciate authentic chinese cuisine you know what I mean. I've had their cashew chicken. almond chicken. wonton soup, fried rice, and a few other choices and enjoyed them all. I like to go there for lunch. They have a good selection of lunch combinations on the menu and the prices are very reasonable. Also on the menu their family combination dinners are also reasonably priced, and enough food to go round. Overall my experience eating there has been very pleasant.

Friendly staff can't save dreadful food. This WAS my go to place in San Pedro when I hit shows at Alvas. I actually looked forward to a good meal.
They either changed cooks, sold it, or got lazy (or all 3). The won ton soup was bad. Like, "meat has gone foul" bad. The vegetables w mushrooms was like garden trimmings with bland sauce, the potstickers made Trader Joes frozen variety look award winning. And the beef with oyster sauce was flavorless. No reason for a return visit. -

Never again! Three years ago I broke my tooth with a rock found in my broccoli beef. The restaurant didn't take responsibility because they did not witness the injury (take out order) spent hundreds of dollars and countless days in pain. Returned this part week and what did I find in my mix vegetables...a piece of plastic (see pic) done with this place.

What happen to Shin Shin?!! The food used to be terrific and even if you ordered take-out it was great. NOT any more. The food is dry, not what we ordered, no soy sauce, no fortune cookies.....YUCK! Won't be back :(

This used to be my go-to place but the last 2 times we have ordered it has bordered on awful.
Last time (about a weeks ago) got the wonton soup, sweet and sour pork and mixed chow mein.
Wonton soup which used to be my favorite thing on the menu was awful. Broth tasted like they had simply put in all the ingredients and just added water.
The sweet and sour pork tasted like it was straight from the freezer to warmed up.
The mixed chow mein bordered on okay but where we usually have leftovers we just threw everything out.
Even though the options for Chinese are very limited in the area I would never return.
